Melanie Heaps
My dogs are part of my family, they are the best mates that I can think of because they love you without compromise.
I currently share my life with two dogs, Lawson and Molly. Both are ex-strays that I adopted from the Dogs Trust. Lawson is a German Shepard cross. He is my dream of a working and sports partner, sadly I had to retire him due to joint problems. Molly is a Rottweiler cross. She sometimes drives me mad as she always needs a good reason to do what I ask her to, but there is always her shoulder for me to cry on when I need it.
When somebody is asking my about my goals for “Karma Canine Dog Training School” I think my answer has to be that I want to help people to own happy, sociable and well-behaved dogs. In the press you hear so much about incidents with dogs and humans, mainly children. I would like to help to prevent these incidents as I think that a lot of them could be prevented by people opening their minds to their responsibilities as dog owners and to their dogs needs.
“OJ has changed from being a quite nervous Scottie to a Scottie full of live and energy. Once he was quite nervous of strangers and certain situations. He has now overcome this and loves life, people and socialises with other dogs.”
Gill and Paul Simms with Oliver and OJ
“To see Tiny playing with my children and other dogs and under control in many different environments is wonderful. If I hadn’t attended the classes I would be walking on my own along empty pathways and not enjoying the walks and friendship that we have.”

Hi, I thought it would be a good idea to tell you a little about myself.
I am experienced in many aspects of dog training and behaviour including puppy development and how dog learn, teaching adult dogs and the use of play to aid learning. If you would like to see a full list of my formal qualification and courses undertaken please view our qualifications.
I’m in my 30’s, young enough to enjoy life and old enough to know better! I have been a veterinary nurse since leaving school and still love it. I have worked in a wide variety of veterinary practices including animal charities and referral hospitals. My interest in dog training stemmed from helping friends train their dogs. I soon realised this was an area that I wanted to become involved in and develop my knowledge and experience further.
I share my life with Fizzy and Maddie. Fizzy is a Border Collie x New Zealand Hunteraway she loves agility and runs like the wind. This combination enabled her to achieve her second Guinness World Record when she ran through 50 pairs of legs in 2.1 seconds! Maddie is a Border Collie x Rottweiler and unlike Fizzy prefers a more sedate lifestyle unless food is on offer! She enjoys accompanying me to classes and loves to join in when she can.
